The Blackwood Street Child Centre is operated by the Mitchelton Community Preschool Association, a community based, not for profit early childhood services provider. The centre was established in 1976 and provides long day child care and education for children from 6 weeks to 5 years.
We offer an exceptional Government approved Kindergarten program with experienced Bachelor qualified teachers and certified Group Leaders preparing children for school years and beyond.
The Association is managed by a Board of Directors, elected by fellow parents, to manage the Centre in conjunction with the Centre Director. Their aim is to provide a warm and friendly, family oriented environment.
The Centre operates between the hours of 7:00am to 6:00pm, Monday to Friday.

My daughter Ava has been at Blackwood Street Childcare Center for about two years now. I interviewed 6 centers before I chose this one, some I wouldn't have left my dog at! The professionalism and caring way the center is run and quality of staff, makes me feel very safe knowing that she is in the best of hands. We just love the huge outdoor areas, myriad of activities and onsite chef. If you are very particular about whom you let care for your child, this is the place to be.
Love it!! My two daughters go to the centre one in the Kindy program, the other started in the nursery. We had used two other centres for my eldest, one interstate. After relocating with Defence to Brisbane we were rushed to find something, our initial centre which I won't name was a bit of a nightmare even though it looked modern, example my daughter who was 2 at the time got sunburn pretty bad. No one would know who my child was on pick up and staff kept changing. Completely different to BSCC! Great mix of experienced long standing staff. My daughters get all meals provided, so well that they often don't want their dinner on daycare days. So different to some of the more cramped centres, the kids have grass and trees to play around and can ride their bikes. Great community.
